Crown Prince repeats Cup victory


Dubai’s Crown Prince HH Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Al Maktoum’s recent victory in the 2016 HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Endurance Cup in Dubai, UAE, marked the second time in a row that the eminent equestrian won the coveted trophy.

Presented by Swiss luxury watchmaker Longines and hosted by the Dubai Equestrian Club the race was held earlier this month (January 9) at Dubai International Endurance City.

For another consecutive year, Longines marked a successful turn as the presenting partner, official timekeeper and official watch of the event. 

Featuring some of the top names from the world of endurance riding, as many as 227 participants competed over a distance of 160 km. 

It was the second consecutive triumph in the Cup for Sheikh Hamdan, who became one of four riders to win the event twice.

In addition to the prestigious trophy Sheikh Hamdan an elegant Longines timepiece.  The total prize money for the winners of the Endurance Cup amounted to Dh14 million.

This year the official watch of the event was the Longines Master Collection. The Longines Master Collection brings together classical elegance and excellent quality, which never cease to delight those who appreciate exceptional timepieces. 

With a diameter of 40 mm, the 18-karat rose gold chronograph houses a self-winding mechanical chronograph movement. Its silvered stamped barleycorn dial and its handsome blued-steel hands make an elegantly contrasting background to the moonphase display. The case is mounted on a brown alligator leather strap.

Longines is a significant partner of endurance riding with the brand’s passion for equestrian sports dating back to 1878. Besides the HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Endurance Cup presented by Longines since 2010, the Swiss watch brand is also the title partner of the Longines FEI World Endurance Championships, which take place this year.
