Pershing 5X, staying ahead of the game

The new Pershing 5X is already a success with six units of the innovative coupé yacht having been sold.

The first in the Pershing ‘X Generation’ will officially debut at the Cannes Yachting Festival 2016.

Increasingly innovative, surprising and ahead of the game even for those who think they can predict its production strategies, Pershing presents the ‘X Generation’.

Just a few months after the announcement of its 140-foot flagship, the Italian brand is ready to launch the Pershing 5X. The letter ‘X’ – used in aerospace to identify extreme performance and technological innovation – symbolises relentless drive to conquer new horizons at great speed.

To start, the Pershing X’s lines, propulsion, performance and style have already convinced the yachting market: six units of the new coupé yacht have been sold months before the worldwide “Private Preview” organised by Ferretti Group in early September in Monaco and the official debut at the Cannes boat show.

“Those who choose Pershing yachts are looking for something that other yachts can't offer. It is our job, every time, to fulfil their wish for extraordinary performance and emotion” says Ferretti Group’s Chief Commercial Officer Stefano de Vivo. “The amazing style and performance of the new 5X epitomises this philosophy. And the X in the name reflects each Pershing's unique character, of those who choose our coupé yachts.

The 5X will soon be joined by other X models that will widen the range and conquer new enthusiastic owners in the Mediterranean and the US - where Pershing is the most successful brand on the market - and also in South America, and the Asia-Pacific region.”

The Pershing 5X is the result of the collaboration between Ferretti Group’s Engineering Department, Product Strategy Committee, and architect Fulvio De Simoni. It is 16.51 m long (54.2’) and has a beam of 4.38 m (14.4’).

The cockpit, a Pershing hallmark, is protected on the sides by two aerodynamic wings and can be separated or joined to the salon thanks to a special opening and closing system for the glass door and glazed surface dividing these two areas.

This solution is installed for the first time on a Pershing of this size and allows guests to fully enjoy the yacht in any and all weather conditions.

The main deck features a living room with a dining table, the helm station to starboard, and a second forward lounge. The forward part of the ceiling comprises a sliding glass roof and a second fixed glass section can be added upon request. The lower deck has been designed around the spacious full-beam master suite with ensuite bathroom. In the prototype layout version, the VIP cabin is located forward and the dinette is in front of the galley; as an alternative, the dinette can be replaced by a guest cabin or a crew cabin accessible from the deckhouse.

The yacht will come in two engine configurations, each with its own engine room layout: twin Volvo D11 IPS950 engines, 725 HP each, with Z-drives and counter-rotating propellers (cruising speed 30 knots, maximum speed 35 knots - preliminary data), or twin CAT 12.9 engines, 1,000 HP each, with Top System 75X surface drives (cruising speed 41 knots, maximum speed 45 knots - preliminary data).

HULL AND SUPERSTRUCTURE

Depicting the hallmarks of Pershing, the 5X reveals a slender and aggressive profile with 4 hull windows per side, each with elliptical portholes.

The superstructure design has been revisited, preserving the most distinctive stylistic features of the latest models, such as the Pershing 70, especially the side wings protecting the cockpit and the decoration serving as a handrail that cuts across the window profile.

COCKPIT AND AFT AREA

Upon owner request, the transom can be lowered by means of an electric-hydraulic system into the water up to approximately 60 cm resulting in easier tender operations (maximum allowable tender model: Williams 280).

When the transom is underwater, a guard rail can be installed on three sides to create a shallow seawater pool. Access to the aft peak and the garage is gained directly from the transom, when the door is open, while the cockpit can be reached via a few steps starboard of the garage door or via a concealable gangway.

MAIN DECK

The versatile layout of this yacht ensures all the freedom of an open yacht and the comfort of a coupe.

The access door and the glazed surface dividing the cockpit from the salon are now fitted with a new opening/closing solution.

The glazed surface above the cockpit can be electrically lifted with an up-and-over system, while the two sections of the glass door can be opened or closed separately: the upper one can be manually tilted toward the outdoor ceiling panel; the lower one opens into the interiors, creating a partition between the salon and the cockpit and ensuring maximum safety when children are on board.

The cockpit has a large sunbathing area with storage underneath, the headrest also serving as a backrest for the seat facing the height-adjustable coffee table. A second large sunbathing area is located forward on the deckhouse.

The indoor salon includes a living/dining zone and a new area on the portside of the helm station, fitted with a small sofa and a chaise longue. Over the helm station is a large sliding glass roof, to which another fixed glass section can be added upon request to maximise natural light and offer a wider panoramic view.

Both can be fitted with integrated curtains and mosquito nets.

LOWER DECK

Below deck, the 5X’s innovative and flexible layout offers very spacious areas for the owner. Indeed, for the first time on a Pershing below 60 feet, there is a wide full-beam master suite with ensuite bathroom.

The VIP cabin is located forward, its bathroom also serving as a day head.
