500 brands to dazzle Doha

The world’s finest jewelers and watchmakers will be showing off their latest creations at the 2015 Doha Jewellery & Watches Exhibition (DJWE), which opens its doors at the Qatar National Convention Centre tomorrow.

Hosted by Qatar Tourism Authority and organised by q.media events, the event is set to offer visitors a “rich, luxurious and memorable experience”.

Sheikh Sultan Al Thani, Events Manager, q.media events, says: “This year’s exhibition will house over 500 of the most prestigious international jewellery and watches brands. It has created a benchmark in terms of not only the brands on display but also the way every thought has been given to maximise visitors’ experiences at the show.”

An event that celebrates the confluence of artistry, creativity, craftsmanship and precious stones and metals, the Doha Jewellery & Watches Exhibition is an eagerly awaited annual event for not only Qatar but the entire region.

Here’s a quick look at what brands and jewelry visitors can expect to see:

The new range in the Mandala bracelet collection by Italian jeweller Pasquale Bruni takes its inspiration from the full moon and features exquisite pieces with accents from the Orient. Mandala is a creation with a meditative feel, emerging from a central feature, which is the lotus flower. The key piece in the collection is the rigid bracelet with shiny stones on one side and the maison's signature inlay on the other. This is usually hidden behind gemstones but in this case is unmasked to create a secret garden of flower buds made of tiny openwork hearts.

BREMONT

Luxury British watch brand Bremont will display its much anticipated Boeing collection. The new line is the result of extensive access to the aerospace company’s material and manufacturing technology and the watches exclusively use Boeing materials that have never before been incorporated in watch manufacture. Bremont will also be showcasing the Terra Nova, a special timepiece that the brand has worked on closely with British polar explorer Ben Saunders, who in 2014 become the first person to complete Scott’s route to the South Pole and back.

BOUCHERON

The precise beauty of Japanese masterpieces has provided a continual source of inspiration for Boucheron’s creations, as seen in the Vague tiara, designed in 1910 and modelled on Hokusai’s famous Wave woodblock print.

In this chapter, the Rivage necklace continues this theme, with a wave of sapphires fringed by a diamond spray, curling around the neck of the woman wearing it. This is achieved using the special technique that involves a setting of 533 stones of different sizes and colours to outline the wave.
