The world’s most luxurious motor car, the Rolls-Royce New Phantom took its place at the Dubai International Motor Show for its regional public debut alongside the one-off Bespoke Spirit of Calligraphy Ghost and Dawn Black Badge.
The region’s luxury and motoring enthusiasts alike gathered to be among the first to see ‘The Best Car in the World’ as presented by Rolls-Royce Motor Cars’ CEO Torsten Müller-Ötvös.
Rolls-Royce Phantom
Since its debut in 1925, the Rolls-Royce Phantom has been the choice of luxury automobile transport for the world’s most powerful men and women, and naturally a constant presence at many of history’s most memorable moments, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars said.
Every new Phantom that has subsequently appeared has successfully retained the title of ‘Best Car in the World’ as a result of Rolls-Royce’s tireless pursuit of perfection, visionary engineering, aesthetic acuity and deep understanding of what the world’s leading luxury item should be. Quite simply, Rolls-Royce has innovated for almost a century to set the benchmark and satisfy the most discerning luxury patrons.
A new benchmark has been set with the arrival of New Phantom – the eighth generation of this great nameplate. Not satisfied with simply launching a motor car that is a wholly contemporary design interpretation of Phantom DNA and a technological tour de force, Rolls-Royce has revolutionised the luxury car industry itself by shifting away from the status quo of shared platforms to an entirely new luxury business model.
New Phantom offers a wholly new, contemporary design interpretation of Rolls-Royce Phantom DNA. The all-new aluminium ‘Architecture of Luxury’ underpinning the New Phantom is lighter, stiffer, quieter and more technologically advanced. The many years of engineering ensures the architectural and proportional lineage of Rolls-Royce while delivering a whole new level of ‘Magic Carpet Ride.’
Another new aspect has been at the heart of the new Phantom’s modern design aesthetic. ‘The Gallery’ is a contemporary and luxury reinterpretation of a motor car’s dashboard and instrument panel area. It is an industry first to have a single piece of toughened glass running the full width of the instrument panel. Rolls-Royce has thus created an area for Bespoke works of art and thereby increased the personalisation potential for every owner of the new Phantom.
‘Spirit of Calligraphy’ Ghost
The Rolls-Royce ‘Spirit of Calligraphy’ Bespoke Ghost draws its design inspiration from the ancient art of Arabic Calligraphy, where words are harmoniously moulded into shapes, creating a unique effect where texts and images become one. Inside this masterpiece a fantastic Motif created by renowned Arabic calligrapher Khalid Al Saaei, where Sir Henry Royce’s iconic words of “Take the best that exists and make it better. When it does not exist, design it” in their Arabic form are shaped into the Rolls-Royce’s famous mascot, the Spirit of Ecstasy.
Dawn Black Badge
Dawn Black Badge, appearing in a stunning Cherry Red exterior, stands as the most luxurious, social and sensual space from which to take in the night air. This most glamorous, uncompromising expression of open-top luxury has been given a new and darker sensual dimension through its suite of Black Badge engineering and design treatments. It completes the dark and edgy ‘Black Badge Trilogy’ that has captivated a new breed of customers – the disrupters, the innovators and those that accept no limitations.
Commenting on Rolls-Royce’s participation at the show, Müller-Ötvös said: “It is with great pleasure that we display the pinnacle of luxury in a city that has the world’s tallest tower, the world’s most luxurious hotel, biggest shopping mall, busiest airport and of course – the world’s highest-selling Rolls-Royce Motor Cars dealership. It is only fitting that we chose the Dubai International Motor Show for the regional public debut of New Phantom – the world’s most luxurious motor car. Our presence at this year’s show demonstrates the sheer diversity of our portfolio perfectly through Dawn Black Badge, the ‘Spirit of Calligraphy’ Bespoke Ghost and of course, New Phantom.”
