Big diamonds to sparkle at art show

Swiss jewellery and watch brand de Grisogono will be going big on diamonds at the upcoming Biennale des Antiquaires, which will be held in the French capital Paris from September 10 to 18.

Now in its 28th edition, the Biennale des Antiquaires is one of the world’s most important antique fairs. Held at the Grand Palais, it will feature no less than 113 galleries from 12 countries, making it the largest art event in 2016, according to the Syndicat National des Antiquaires, the show’s organiser.

At the event, de Grisogono will showcase one-off high jewellery creations within its Folies collection, including a 404-carat diamond it recently purchased, which is being cut and polished in New York.

The pieces combine the sparkle of top-grade diamonds with the vivid and assertive colours of rubies, emeralds and black diamonds, and showcase the artistic talent and expertise of de Grisogono’s owner Fawaz Gruosi.

Among the pieces to be featured are a pair of earrings adorned with 10 white and black diamonds and carbonados; a 62-carat high jewellery ring featuring 47 briolette-cut rubies extending from a 14-carat central diamond that crowns the pink gold ring set with 365 rubies; and a high jewellery ring featuring an emerald-cut white diamond, and 200 richly coloured clusters of emeralds mounted on a ring, and 5-pave diamonds rings.
