Dutch builder Oceanco has just revealed a new concept megayacht called Titan which promises “to make heads turn wherever she cruises”.

“Titan is Oceanco’s new elegant and sporty 117-m superyacht concept, coded DP055,” says a company spokesman. 

He continues: “The exterior styling has been particularly well-groomed with minute attention to detail especially regarding the right proportion of the superstructure.  Her slender underwater hull shape, designed for low resistance, coupled with a low overall hybrid propulsion power system allows this stunning yacht to reach speeds of 18 knots. Her fuel efficiency, reduction of harmful exhaust emissions and her silent operational capabilities makes this yacht ideal for worldwide cruising in an eco-conscious mode.”   

With a beam of 15.3 m, Titan can comfortably accommodate 12 guests in six double cabins as well as her owners in a superb suite with an open spacious terrace and a private whirlpool on the aft upper deck. 

Guests also benefit from their own private whirlpool and terrace adjacent to the fully certified helicopter landing platform for a Eurocopter EC135. Having all cabins on one deck is not standard but it was the will of the designer to make each deck with a specific purpose: the upper deck is reserved for cabins, the main deck for dining and entertaining and the lower deck is dedicated to sports and wellness. 

On the main deck, a very exclusive lounge area – including the formal dining table – has been created in the middle part of the yacht with exclusive full-height windows on each side designed with an inverted angle above the sea providing an unhindered panoramic sea view without any reflexion from the interior. 

To emphasise this feeling of space, all door passages are 1.6 m wide. On this same deck, at the very aft, an oval swimming pool of 7.8 by 4.2 m overlooking the sea is beautifully surrounded by sofas, sunbeds, two TV drop-down screens, an al-fresco bar and buffet displays. This is the ideal area to enjoy life onboard in a totally private and fully serviced way.

On the lower deck, guests can enjoy the vast relaxing beach club and a wellness area, lounge and bar facilities with a folding swimming platform on each side for easy access to the sea;  adjacent to this beach club area is a fully equipped gym, massage room, beauty salon, steam room and cinema. Ample storage for four wave runners and a jet ski as well as a diving store, all with direct access to the sea is also available next to the wellness area.   

Casting the traditional methodology of starting from a given length aside, the innovative hull of Titan gains its entire engineering prowess from uniting designer and naval architect in order to optimise all aspects of the build whilst maintaining a chosen gross tonnage. Using lower powered lighter engines together with a higher length-displacement ratio, the dynamics result in an efficient yet elegant hull which is still capable of attaining a high maximum speed. In addition, the smaller engines necessitate only a single tiered engine room leaving extra space available for accommodation. All of these criteria create a virtuous circle – longer length, less power, more luxury space – whilst maintaining the efficiency and speed which is expected of a yacht of this magnitude.

Distinctive titanium integrated parts, combined with her red painted hull gives Titan a bold and strong look. Stunning lines and striking volumes already characterise this new Oceanco concept, and she will no doubt make heads turn wherever she cruises, the company says.

Meanwhile Oceanco’s Stunning new superyacht Equanimity, which was launched earlier this year, has won two major awards.

In early September, the 91.5-m Equanimity was voted Best Yacht of the Year over 82 m at the 2014 World Yacht Trophies. The exclusive awards ceremony organised by LuxMedia Group took place at the Carlton Beach Hotel in Cannes, France, and featured a gala dinner followed by the awards presentation and a spectacular nighttime parade of yachts cruising along the shoreline. 

The same month, Equanimity had the further distinction of winning the esteemed Monaco Yacht Show award for The Finest New Yacht of the 2014 Monaco Yacht Show – the Best in Show! The ceremony took place at the new Norman-Foster designed Yacht Club of Monaco. The director of the Monaco Yacht Show presented Oceanco the award at the show’s opening cocktail reception party attended by industry members, the press and VIPs.
